Adults

Talking Space Plus is available for our patients who are aged 18 years + in Abingdon.  The service is provided by Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust in Partnership with Principal Medical Limited (PML) and  Oxfordshire Mind.  The talking treatments that we offer are effective, and are recommended by National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines.

TalkingSpace Plus offers you the chance to help yourself to cope with life’s ups and downs, feel better and learn your own strategies for keeping well.

TalkingSpace Plus is for anyone struggling to cope with anxiety and depression. Take that first step.

Young People (13-25 yrs)

The Abingdon Bridge offers advice, guidance and emotional support for stress, relationships, personal safety, drug and alcohol advice and healthy lifestyles.

baby_nurseChild Health / Baby Clinic:  Health Visitors are attached to this practice but their offices are in town.  Their work is concerned with the families of the practice patients, in particular with children up to the age of five years old. They are available Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm on 01235 526584.

Please note that Baby Clinics are no longer held at the surgery but at the Abingdon Community Well Child Clinics which are held at the following venues:

Wednesday: Sutton Courtenay Village Hall 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Thursday: Kennington Health Centre  9:00am -11:00 am
Friday: Malthouse Surgery, Abingdon ’ 12:30 pm -14:00 pm 

Child Immunisation Programme:  If your child is due his / her immunisations please phone reception to book an appointment with the nurse.

Please note: if pre school immunisations are due your child will need an appointment with the doctor and nurse.  Please phone reception to arrange this.

Pre-School Checks:  Please contact reception for an appointment.

Minor Surgery:  Please contact reception for an appointment.

Family Planning:  Consultations during normal surgery times. Coils and implants are by appointment. Please contact reception.

pregnant_12Maternity Medical Services:  Antenatal clinics by appointment with the doctors or midwife – book at reception.  Please let the receptionist know if you are arranging your ante-natal appointment with your GP as it requires a longer appointment.

Stopping Smoking:  Advice and support is provided for patients who wish to stop smoking. Please ask at reception for an appointment with one of the advisers.

Medical Examinations:  Medical examinations not covered by the NHS are by arrangement with the doctors (e.g Life Assurance, Pre-Employment, HGV and Taxi Licence, Sports). The tariff for these services is displayed in reception. Appointments are held outside of normal surgery times and may be booked with the Medical Secretary by phoning 01235 522379.

Sexual Health Clinic: Wednesday's 3:30-5:30 pm.  The clinics, provided by Dr Sherrard's team from the Churchill Hospital, operate in various locations across Oxfordshire and offer a walk in and appointment only service.  The clinics can be contacted from one central number on 01865 231231.
