Wasted Medications

medication_10Across Oxfordshire medicine wastage is estimated to cost in excess of £2 million pounds per year.  This could pay for:

  • 240 heart bypass operations
  • 360 hip replacmements
  • 2600 cataract operations

Once dispensed, medicines cannot be reused even if they are returned to the pharmacist unopened - they have to be destroyed.

Please only order what you need and if you go into hospital take all your prescription medicines with you.

Anyone with unwanted prescriptions can return them to their local pharmacy where they will be disposed of safely.
