We now use a telephone triage system. Please telephone the surgery on the day you wish to speak to the Doctor. We are also able to give our patients the ability to book their appointments on line for blood tests using Patient Access. All telephone calls are recorded for training and monitoring purposes.
Please ask at reception to register for this service or download a patient information sheet and our registration form: PatientOnline Registration Form.docx.
To help you get the most from using our online services we have created the following leaflet. Getting the Most from Online Access
https://patient.emisaccess.co.uk/Account/Login Follow the link to log in to Patient Access.
We respectfully ask our patients not to request appointments by email. This is because the receptionists email account is only checked once a day which may result in your request not being processed.
Monday - Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) between 8:00am and 8:30am the surgery offers an emergency only telephone line. Please dial the normal surgery number and await instructions.
When you contact the surgery to make a telephone appointment it is possible the receptionist will ask you about your problem. This will help us to organise your appointment with you.
If you have more than one problem that you wish to discuss, please let the doctor know at the start of your appointment so that they can help you get the best out of your consultation. Please understand that if the doctor is unable to discuss everything with you during your 10 minute telephone appointment they will ask you to arrange another appointment for the less urgent problem.
PLEASE NOTE: GPs DO NOT OFFER CERVICAL SMEARS - THESE APPOINTMENTS MUST BE ARRANGED WITH A NURSE VIA RECEPTION or BY USING OUR ONLINE APPOINTMENT SERVICE
Our doctors are available at different times during the week. Click here for the Rota: September - December Rota 2020
Monday to Friday:
We do prefer it if you are able to come to surgery as we can examine you more easily, however, if you are too unwell to come to surgery and need a home visit please telephone us as soon as possible after 08:30 on 01235 522379.
If you wish to book a telephone call with your GP or nurse please phone reception and request a telephone consultation with them.
Unfortunately it is not possible to guarantee a time that the doctor / nurse will phone you, it is therefore important you provide us with a telephone number that you can be contacted on between 08:40 and 18:30 hrs. The doctors prefer to have some information before they phone you and so please be advised the receptionists will ask you for details to pass on to the doctor / nurse.
We are able to book telephone calls with our nurses throughout their normal working day when their capacity allows, but normally the nurses also return calls at the end of their morning surgery. Telephone calls with the nurses can also be booked in advance.
Abingdon Federation offers evening and weekend clinical appointments. The Federation consists of the following six surgeries:
If you are registered at any of these Practices, you can book a telephone appointment to speak to a GP and, at certain times, other members of the Primary Care team, in our 7 Day Access service as follows:
Monday to Friday 6 pm to 8 pm
Saturday and Sunday 9am to 12 noon
Appointments will be delivered at one of the five surgeries listed below on a rota basis and will be 15 minutes long. They must be booked through your own GP surgery at which time you will be advised of the time and location.
If the appointment is not with your own surgery, at the time of booking the appointment you will need to provide verbal authority for the clinician providing your care to access your medical notes. It is important to note that the receptionist is unable to book the appointment without this consent.
Appointments in other practices will be with the clinicians associated with that practice and not your own practice.
