Appointments System

We now use a telephone triage system and pre-bookable appointments are available. Please telephone the surgery on the day you wish to speak to the doctor.

We are also able to give our patients the ability to book their appointments online for blood tests using Patient Access. Blood Tests should only be booked if they have been requested by a doctor or as part of your annual review.
Please ask our Patient Services Team to register for this service or download a patient information sheet and our registration form here:

To help you get the most from using our online services we have created the following leaflet. Getting the Most from Online Access

Please note; all telephone calls are recorded for training and monitoring purposes.

We respectfully ask our patients not to request appointments by email.  This is because the receptionists email account is only checked once a day which may result in your request not being processed.

When you contact the surgery to make a telephone appointment it is possible the Patient Services Team will ask you about your problem.  This will help us to organise your appointment with you.

If you have more than one problem that you wish to discuss, please let the doctor know at the start of your appointment so that they can help you get the best out of your consultation.  Please understand that if the doctor is unable to discuss everything with you during your 10 minute telephone appointment they will ask you to arrange another appointment for the less urgent problem.

Contraception - We now offer appointments for coil and implant fittings and removals.

Please note: GPs do not offer cervical smears - these appointments must be arranged with a nurse via PST or by using our online appointment service.

Telephone Advice - GP or Nurse

If you wish to book a telephone call with your GP or nurse please phone Patient Services Team and request a telephone consultation with them.

Unfortunately it is not possible to guarantee a time that the doctor/nurse will phone you, it is therefore important you provide us with a telephone number that you can be contacted on between 08:40 and 18:30.  The doctors prefer to have some information before they phone you so please be advised the PST will ask you for details to pass on to the doctor/nurse.

We are able to book telephone calls with our nurses throughout their normal working day when their capacity allows, but normally the nurses also return calls at the end of their morning surgery.  Telephone calls with the nurses can also be booked in advance.

Home Visits

Patients are requested, where possible, to telephone as soon as possible after 08:30 on 01235 522379 if a home visit is required that day.

We would request that, apart from the genuinely housebound, all other patients attend the surgery rather than request a home visit because of the extra time home visiting takes. On average four to five patients can be seen in surgery in the time it takes to do a single house call. In addition, the care that can be offered due to the lack of adequate lighting, examination facilities and equipment means that you may not receive as good a service as the doctor may be able to offer if you came to the surgery.

Please note that the doctor may telephone you rather than visit you if this is medically appropriate. Ultimately it is the doctors right to decide whether or not a visit is appropriate for a particular set of circumstances.

Travelling to the Surgery

There is a good network of footpaths and cycle paths to the surgery and buses stop regularly on Oxford Road which is just a short walk (2 mins) from the surgery.

The surgery does have its own car park with a disabled parking bay and level access to the main entrance. If the car park is full please park considerately and safely along Boulter Drive or in the public car park at the end of the road which is short walk from the surgery.

Cycle racks are available at the front of the surgery.

Information on travelling to the surgery using public transport is available on the following websites:

Cancel an Appointment

It is important that you inform the Patient Services Team if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.

You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.
