We offer a full travel advice and immunisation service. If you are travelling abroad please complete and submit the travel form in plenty of time (we recommend 6-8 weeks) before your journey.

The following vaccines are available without charge:

  • Typhoid
  • Hepatitis A
  • Diptheria / Tetanus / Polio

The nurses are also able to administer Hepatitis B for travel purposes but this is chargeable.  Prices are subject to change and will be advised of the current fee before attending your appointment.

We recommend that you visit the website Pro Travel Health (below) as this provides comprehensive information including vaccines needed for your chosen destination.

Unfortunately we are unable to provide a vaccination service for patients who are visiting multiple destinations, but our nurses will be able to give advice on the appropriate vaccinations for the areas of travel and advise you how to receive your immunisation.  To check which vaccinations you need for your travels visit:  www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk

All vaccines listed below and Hepatitis B can be provided by Travel Clinics e.g. Boots in Oxford, Manor Hospital Oxford, Abingdon Surgery:

  • Rabies
  • T.B.E.(Tick Borne Encephalitis)
  • J.E. (Japanese Encephalitis)
  • Meningitis ACWY
  • Yellow Fever

A fee will be charged by Private Travel Clinics for the consultation and the vaccinations although these rates may vary.

Arranging Your Vaccines Before Travelling

To ensure that you allow sufficient time for your immunity to develop before travelling please return your risk assessment for at least:

  • 8 weeks before departure for routine trips of 2 – 4 weeks in duration
  • 6 - 12 months before departure for world treks.

Anti Malaria Tablets

If anti-malaria tablets are required for your journey, you will be informed during your consultation.  Most chemists can supply these without a prescription.

Please note anti-malaria tablets are not available on the NHS and you will be charged the retail price by the pharmacy.

Passport Forms

Due to revised regulations introduced by the Passport Office, GPs are no longer able to countersign passports unless they have known the applicant personally for at least two years (for example as a friend, neighbour or colleague and should not be someone who just knows the applicant professionally).
